Arch Enemy annihilates Manila

March 6, 2010

Arch Enemy was formed almost exactly where the Gothenburg movement had grown horns, this melodic death metal from Sweden made Filipino metalheads burst we had a very fortunate taste of genuine metal I say. The band has exceeded our expectations and Im strong enough to say that the current lineups would be more deadly in time.

Delivering Prog "Bring Dream Theater to Manila"

February 26, 2010

Prog  (short term for progressive metal) is a sub genre of heavy metal that incorporates high guitar rhythm of complexity and structures that will drive listeners to epic combustion and sometimes drop you off to jazzy. Isn’t it hard to picture… it isn’t. Pulp Live Productions had been running a survey on Facebook to help them decide about bringing one of the most recognizable prog acts in the industry they actually go by the name Dream Theater. Trivium Live in Manila (Post-Concert)

February 16, 2010

Kicking the 2010 “Into The Mouth of Hell We Tour” but that title eventually changed to “My Heavy Metal Valentines” when they landed in Manila. What a transition right? Hey that didn’t turn out to be a huge buffet party for couples, its a straight up date for metal minions in your honor! The audience salivated in hunger for destruction at the latter part of the first set, we were just so psyched to see the band that we almost forgot that we were in the core but after that monster pull a knife out because we had killed it! That night serves as a welcome platform for the band’s official new drummer Nick Augusto and all got hit by a novice  track Shattering the skies above which I filmed for your viewing pleasure. (Will post youtube link soon)

11th Red Horse Beer Muziklaban Grand Finals

February 5, 2010

Muziklaban -Muzik (Music) Laban (Fight)

is an event that gathers amateur bands across the country to combat for a million bucks, recording contract, tons of red horse booze, groupies whatever to label it simple a life like a rockstar or to be a rockstar is up for grabs! I cant call myself a follower, not a big fan of muziklaban at all! Besides the reason why I went down for it is to pick up my Trivium SVIP tickets other than that is a whole new story. Last year was so awesome without any doubt to attest Sepultura was there as a guest. This year, it is fun of course you know to be in a crowd with a beer in hand to get away from a mundane is incredible.

Finalists:
- Hatankaru from Manila (Champion)
- Kokumban from Naga
- 2nd Squad from Baguio
- Cambronero from Bacolod
- Hoodswhite from Cagayan De Oro

Inglourious Basterds

January 24, 2010

Lucky enough to have atleast a jarhead way of thinking. I thought that this movie will picture a mass of people being killed with a machine in any form but that’s given. Its a Quentin Tarantino film to begin with, a guy who works with his abominable mind that no one could predict how his movies gonna be like.Inglourious Basterds is radical and funny but its elusive to make a transition from the reality to the fantasy, they all mixed up. I also think that 2 hours and 33 minutes is a long time that he himself the director didn’t know how to end it but with creativity he managed to invent an arsonist to kill them all and we all laughed!

Bottom line I’m a fan of Quentin and I enjoyed the movie.

Finally these lads will be now for sure invade the not so slum society of Filipino Metalheads but atleast we’re blood by blood family. Dont forget to mark the date or else miss it remember they supposed to play in August of 2007 (speculation)  but it was not pushed through since we lost the slot to Japan grrr. I want to thank Karen of PULP for escalating the link on my Facebook. Tickets are now available, selling like pancakes too.

LONG LOST BE BURIED

January 2, 2010

SUDDEN WHISPERS AWAKEN ME

I STOOD UP ‘TIS I SEE NO ONE EXCEPT ME I WAS THERE

THE GHOST HAUNTS ME WITH GREAT DESPAIR

THRO’ THE COLD WIND BLOWS I RECALL A DISMAL SCREAMING OF HORROR

ON MY DANCING CURTAIN OF THEE ENVISAGED A GORGEOUS LADY

I’VE GOT TO FOLLOW HER AROUND SHE LEFT SOMETHING TO CHASE UPON

PERFUME OF DEATH SCENTED THE AIR LIT EVERY CANDLES I SWEAR

THIS MUST BE A SEANCE SEQUELOF A DEAD SO LONG BE BURIED

IN PEACE OF VANISHING PROMISE ONCE LOST AND LIVE TO DIE AGAIN

HER SOUL IS SO DAMN ELATED AN

AMBIENCE OF AGGRIEVED MERCY

BEGGING FOR TRUTH BUT TORMENTED

SOLD TO DUST OF DEPRAVITY

GOING TO THE CELLAR GASPING

FELT GUILTY PAIN AND SUFFERING I’VE DRAWN PENTACLE WITH EYES CLOSED

THOUGHT OF INWARDLY THAT SHES HERE BECAUSE THE SMELL LIKES ME TO KILL

THEN EVERYTHING WENT VERY HARD

WISHING THINGS TO END UP THIS WAY

GRANT SPELLS FOR HER TO GO AWAY

MY EYES WERE OPENED JUST IN TIME

WE MET EACH OTHERS EYES WITH TEARS

SHE TOUCHED ME BY HER TAINTED HANDS

I TOUCHED HER BACK SHE SLOWLY FADES

NU Countdown 107 of 2009

January 1, 2010

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/3c/Dwnu_1075fm.jpg/180px-Dwnu_1075fm.jpg

5:28 am at work writing this piece of mindless self indulgence post, I guess not… dare you!  What about telling you a short story? This how it goes….http://en.wikipilipinas.org/images/thumb/e/e3/Nu_107.JPG/90px-Nu_107.JPGI woke up around 7:30 am but in mind I thought I set up my alarm clock since I had to rise up from my hay as early as 6 am to do a business with NU107 for those who don’t know its a local radio station that has been on air since the year I was born sometime in 1987 so that’s from the cutting edge of wave to a modern era of rock the bloodline still lives on for rock n roll. You are probably wondering what kind of business I am talking about here well it has nothing to do with my career definitely its all about the the top 107 rock songs of 2009 as they count it down from the bottom to top one at a time. But I didnt bother to jot down the title of the songs and the artists like I used to do wayback years ago the first time was 2003 still have it on file actually. At one point I realized how I changed its sucking me up big time I could not even tell the title of the song playing almost 90% of those songs who made it on the list were so anonymous to me. Things are not the same anymore you cant stop it there is no way in hell you do that! Narrower sense of the term my job killed it for me you cant live the life it was but I still have to try gluing my ears on this frequency as I learned doing 8 years ago, not leaving my home of new rock!

3:30 am my alarm signals me for a brand new day in a brand new year. 2009 had been a good if not great year for me it was a fiasco for some hey it ends last night right!  Congratulations that we made it! Cheers!!

Darkest Hour at PULP SUMMER SLAM "FOREVER"

December 28, 2009

On that day A Roces Ave was turned into a massive gathering of troops clad in black, not to mention these lads who had come with super outfits that resemble comic heroes or these proud herds who came all the way from near states all packed-up with banners and flags. It is indeed another awesome sequel of the wildest event of the year ” PULP Summer Slam” on its 8th year.As I arrived at the venue, it was late afternoon. Approaching the entrance my blood started to rise up from seeing the Slamophonics, these bouncers were confiscating cigs, Ironically, you can buy inside just meters away from the gates . Being a Pulper I can say for a fact that these juggernauts weren’t executed to implement the banning of cigs, lighter, etc… the prohibition came from the Amoranto itself. By getting my free pizza, a bottle of sugar free cola and and a nice scarf did quite doused the fire in me. I walked further up the stairs when my heart starts to pounder finally its about time again to feed my hungry angst side with flesh ruthless beatings. From the top I got an elevated view, a fantastic one. Peeps were like small matches stabbed on a huge cake. I was seduced easily that led me rushing down excited to put myself onto slice. Injuring myself at the right ledge enjoying the cola and drifting smoke from a lit cigar were just meager things I did whilst overlooking the stage rotating eyeballs to the busy people, to the booths selling shirts, booze and food and to f***ing s*it. Until I decided to throw my body to the crowd which by the way were just starting to warm up but it was getting harder and harder to move as the crowd skyrocketed in numbers every single time.

http://photos-147.friendster.com/e1/photos/74/17/19147147/1_372130933m.jpgA total battle formed as if we were waiting for a red alarm before we start enduring the b*tch, it was sort of colonies isolated by musical preferences I’ve noticed it because everytime an overrated band slinks through people gravitate back closer to the stage. You can sue me for stating a light derogatory line here but I shine with my silvery eyes. Contradicted, what sets PULP Summer Slam apart is the power that paved ways to a lot of bands to arise from shallow hell to literally build an allegiance of antagonists to a more realistic of plaguing the mainstream society.http://i.ytimg.com/vi/Q0DA8gyMknE/0.jpg Anyway, as getting back my thoughts, I was slogging for many hours. Its left ledge vs right ledge slammers, moshing like beasts under the deafening sound that seeps through cracks of a zealot, forming circle pits that gyrate faster than a hurricane. Dust ascending to the air it was intoxicating, but then further moshing spontaneous exchange of sweat, rubbing elbows, jumping up and down to a gigantic rhythm throwing punches up too with excruciating bang of head. This time flying plastic bottles reigned the air some filled with urine due to excessive dehydration so bless be the fall. Rehydration as moshing continues to avenge a corpuscle away from our bodies, a nonstop impulse of sovereignty that lasted for more than half a day that left us with frayed nerves.

Paranormal Activity

December 24, 2009

First off, I wish I directed the movie not because there was absence in it that I thought I might would have gotten into existence if I was in control but I aint that’s the deal! I just ended up watching it on a widescreen with eagle eyes I almost forgot to blink to not miss any of the bedroom scenes. It got me thinking in a way that damn there was no brutality, no blood, no monster, no whatever scare tactics that you normally see in a horror movie but yet it was so awesome and classic. Some viewers may not dig it if you’re a person who looks for something visual or on the other hand if you’re a lame duck who needs to be injected with vitality. Only one key that would surpass you from “theater walk out” that is your imagination to work on, and jerk it with adrenaline rush to your head.

A dream of death

December 18, 2009

After waking up I went straight ahead to the kitchen to rummage some food that I can devour before going out for work, it does feel strange to get up like you are in trance plus seeing a light that turns on and off coming from a house next to us is deceiving though I must admit that I barely had a good sleep because I was expecting to see someone last night but ended up sacrificing it not to just not to come late at work. Then I arrived at the parking lot, had bought a glass of iced tea, and a cig to smoke my worn self out for about less than 10 mins I rushed to the floor punched in. A workmate of mine told me that she dreamt of me last night but what triggered me to react on that was she said that I was dead funny thing a night before that she dreamt of a tooth falling out! Can somebody tell me what does that mean??
